Update on pedestrianisation scheme
Works are progressing well in Braintree as part of the pedestrianisation scheme, where a large area of paving in the High Street has recently been completed and paving work now starting in Great Square. Work has also recently begun in Market Place to lay the tarmac ready for the resin and paving to be added at a later stage.
The latest timeline of scheduled works is available online and will be updated as the contractors work through the town centre. We are really pleased to see this recent progress and hope you are too. We recognise that there has been some delay in completing some of the existing works and we understand the frustrations, and we are working hard to complete these as soon as we can with our construction partner. Although the completion date for the whole scheme by August 2021, it’s important to note that certain areas in the town centre will be completed before then as the contractor progresses through the town centre in a phased way.
