Good news this past week, with Ian Butcher CFC Shalford Football chairman has managed to obtain a Grant from the Football Foundation towards pitch maintenance.
The grant is for £3000 over 6 years, £750 in years 1 and 2 £500 in years 3 and 4 and £250 in years 5 and 6. Well done Ian
Many residents might see just a grass field without realizing the amount of maintenance that needs to take place almost weekly, not just grass cutting, but weed control and drainage, most of the light work is undertaken by Ian and Duggie Turner as volunteers, but contractors are employed for the heavy work.
Our Village Hall is a separate entity from the Parish Council and has to fund all its own expenditure, in the recent past a second hand tractor plus gang mowers have had to be purchased, with no income for the past 18 months due to Convid-19, and delays until next year for Shalford Cricket to commence, the grant is most welcomed.
